The nest

In the heart of Munich, there is a historical building converted in one of the most sophisticated design hotels I have ever been, the Stadt Rosenmheim Hotel. I spent a night there when I moved in Munich, and two years later I took a half-day off from my job at Triumph to organise a 4h shooting before taking a flight back to Brussels the same evening. The concept of the editorial was “the nest”, with the idea to highlight the embroideries of the Triumph Essence and the Valisére collections with the cosiness of a sophisticated - conceptual - nest. The location was fundamental to convey that feeling, and the bucolic wallpaper was the key. On top of that, the wardrobe-stylist Cosima Gerke selected props and accessories with the care that enriched the scene, like the birdcage. The last touch of magic was provided by PS Models agency that - after having mentioned that the story was inspired by an Italian movie with Ornella Muti “La femme de mes amours” - sent to the set Ivana, the Czech “copy” of a young Ornella Muti. All ingredients were in place, but still, Cornelius (today assistant to Rankin) gave me the extra help when running at the very end of the makeup to rent a 50mm fix lens that allowed me to frame closer the subjects.
